Jenna Chiddenton

Hello, my name is Jenna Chiddenton, and I studied Visual Arts and Art History at York University from 2017 to 2021. I worked as an EA after graduating, but I found myself missing the art world. Teaching at Oakville Galleries gives me the best of both worlds: working with kids and staying connected to art.

I am a painter and printmaker whose work combines bold colour, layered composition, and personal storytelling. Much of my art surrounds my own experiences and values, especially around themes like mental health. Each piece begins with a rough sketch and a focused palette, centered around one recurring colour that ties the work together. Though deeply personal, I aim for my work to remain open, inviting people to find their own meaning within it.

In my art classes, I want kids to have fun exploring their creativity while trying out new materials and techniques. My hope is that they leave feeling proud of what they’ve made and confident in themselves, even if it was a little challenging along the way!

Emma Loiselle

Emma Loiselle is an interdisciplinary Artist and Art Educator in Oakville, Ontario. After completing her BFA from Queen’s University in 2021, Emma began her career working with Canadian Galleries in Kingston, Burlington, Oakville and Toronto. In her own practice, Emma finds artistic inspiration from connecting with nature and exploring organic forms through light and colour. Her work explores themes of introspective tranquility in response to our relationship with ourselves and the natural world. Blurring the lines between realism and abstraction, Emma experiments with acrylic, watercolour, oil and cyanotype printmaking in her practice.

Becoming an Art Educator in her community has been a fulfilling recent adventure of hers, after exiting the commercial gallery scene, Emma was eager to step back into a role that worked closely with the community. Currently she is teaching Child/Youth programs with Oakville Galleries and Adult Drawing and Painting courses with the Town of Oakville. As an art instructor, she focuses on guiding students to think creatively and draw inspiration from their own lives. Her teaching approach emphasises the therapeutic benefits that creating art has on the body/mind and hopes her students gain a sense of creative achievement from her classes. Emma advises any aspiring artist to explore as many art forms and styles as you can, you never know which one you might fall in love with!
