One of the most important aspects of Oakville Galleries' operation is its reliance on teamwork. However, even in the context of team support, every employee assumes defined responsibilities as described in their position descriptions. The Director, Matthew Hyland, works closely with all employees and the Board of Directors. Together with Marnie Fleming, Curator of Contemporary Art, the artistic vision is developed and priorities are set for acquisitions for the permanent collection. The Curator conducts exhibition and research initiatives. Interim Curatorial Assistant Christina Papantoniou manages the holdings of the permanent collection and coordinates the particulars of both on-site and touring exhibitions. She works in collaboration with Preparator, Brian Davis and the installation team. Elizabeth Underhill, Interim Education Coordinator, develops all educational programs for the Galleries. She outlines outreach strategies and oversees a team of Animateurs who design and deliver programs that reflect the community's varied audiences. As a whole, the education team participates in the development and delivery of teen and school programs, as well as art classes and camps. The team consists of ten part-time Educators (Taylor Bosada, Anna May Henry, Ryan Lord, Olia Mishchenko, Meghan O'Neill, Dominique Prévost, Farrukh Rafiq, Trish Rivers, Melina Sevilla, and Jennie Suddick). Their combined expertise in education shapes the quality and diversity of our youth programs. Sarah Febbraro, Community Arts Programmer, augments these activities through a diverse slate of off-site programs, public events and special projects focused on building sustainable relationships between individuals, communities and contemporary art. Interim Communications Officer Mariam Nader implements the Galleries' strategic communications plan. Maria Zanetti, Office and Facilities Manager, oversees everyday operations of the Galleries and is secretary for the meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Acquisitions Committee. Brady Schmidt, Development Associate, is in charge of managing corporate partnerships and fundraising. She works collaboratively with Board, staff and the wider community. Our graphic designers are Victoria Borg, in communications and marketing and Lilian Aitkin, for our new community initiatives. Oakville Galleries' volunteers work on a project-based management model. Volunteers play an important role not only in Education but also as part of the Board of Directors and its committees.
