PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Giggles in the Galleries
-
5 July - 30 August 2023
Come on out to Central Branch for a one-hour art experience with Oakville Galleries and the Oakville Public Library!
Bring your baby, toddler or even bigger kid, for an easy tour of our latest exhibition! Join us in the gallery for an assortment of engaging hands-on art activities.
Our current exhibition at Centennial Square,
Having Ideas by Handling Materials by collaborative duo Leisure (Meredith Carruthers and Susannah Wesley) offers your little one activities to engage in the relationship between parenting, play, and the creative process. Leisure draws on the educational theory of Loose Parts, which advocates for children to have freedom over their play environments and drive the artist's work.
Each week we will hear stories and sing songs with a Children's Librarian. An Oakville Galleries educator will show you how to collaborate with your little one to make an artwork to take home—a special keepsake for this one-on-one time together.
All materials are provided and pre-registration is required. Adults and children attend the program together. One adult is to complete the registration on behalf of all participants (maximum of 4 family/household members, including at least one adult).
