Tender Possibilities: A Poetry Reading Group

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Tender Possibilities: A Poetry Reading Group

    22 July 2023

Enjoy a special afternoon of contemporary art, performance, and poetry—not to be missed!

After the Sound Performance with Timothy Yanick Hunter, we invite you to continue exploring the poetic capacities of narrative-making by participating in a free workshop led by artist Farhia Tato, who is the organizer of Tender Possibilities. Presented as a reading group, Tender Possibilities engages in poetry, text, and alternative archives as a way to create communities.

Farhia Tato is a Somali-Oromo multidisciplinary artist. Her current projects focus on the parallels between discourses of race and technology. She is interested in the processes that undergird black conception/perception, representation and sociality. Through storytelling, Tato desires to challenge preconceived notions about our identities and histories. Farhia takes great pleasure in constructing poetic and imaginative narratives rooted in folklore, fairy tales, and mythologies.

Collapse and Incompletion and associated public programming are made possible through the generous support of Partners in Art.
