Children’s Art Education Instructor assistants are needed for Art Classes & Camps throughout the year. The Camps offer volunteers the opportunity to participate in an art teaching experience while enjoying our lakeside location. Typically, a weeklong commitment is required or a series of Saturdays. Both English and French speakers are welcome. Police checks are required.
Special events Each year the Galleries hosts several exhibition openings, special events and at least one major public gala. Should you have events management experience or are looking to gain some, there are many fulfilling tasks available throughout the year including silent auction item solicitation,desktop publishing, database management, sponsorship, decor, and event staff.
Fundraising initiatives If you are detail-focused and have either a few hours a week or a month, there are many opportunities for volunteers who are interested in fundraising projects. Opportunities and tasks vary throughout the year.
Office assistance At different periods throughout the year there are opportunities for volunteers with professional office experience. This may include preparation for archiving, slide library, filing, assisting with the permanent collection, reference library, promotional material creation and updating, and data entry among others.
Membership For those with a particular interest or skill set, there are multiple tasks available specifically related to the Friends of Oakville Galleries Giving Circle. Please indicate your availability during regular business hours.
Communications and marketing If you have specific communication and marketing skills, throughout the year there are many opportunities for assistance with the Galleries’s communication and marketing initiatives. Tasks may include updating databases and email lists, distribution of the Galleries’s Newsletter throughout the Oakville area, assistance with open houses and various other initiatives.
Art Rental & Sales Currently the Art Rental & Sales programme is temporarily closed for restructuring. Volunteer opportunities include database development, best-practices research, inventory collection, correspondence with potential artist participants, and promotional material development before the re-launch. If you have a few days a month to dedicate to this important initiative and have business acumen, please let us know.
