Behind Glenridge Road This was somewhere she mainly went as a child. When she was 11 or 12 she came here when she was trying to run away from home. She came to the top of the hill so she could look down on the house, and she stayed in the undergrowth for an hour. She noticed the graffiti on the bridge. Then she decided to go back. There's a tree in the field where a boy she knew built a fort, and at one point started a fire, which burned part of the field. She doesn't come here often, as she doesn't really have a need to. Though it's hard to tell how much this has to do with her own habits (that she has less time than as a child), and how much this is because the suburbs aren't really conducive to going for walks—you don't see people on the street like the city, nor do you have the quiet and solitude of the country. Areas like this are also seen as dangerous. This area was much less developed in the past; the strip mall across the street is new. But there is no sign indicating who owns the land. |
