This was one of the first pictures we took. Jeff instructed us on how to focus the camera, on composition, etc. He shared a lot of his own
work and the meaning behind it, serving as the ignition to my creative process.
Taken on the Oakville Galleries' grounds, I tried to position Jeff's native figure in front of a blurred cage-like structure in the background.
By this subtle overlap of the native and cage, I'm communicating the oppression and racism I have witnessed against natives while
spending summers and Christmases in nothern Saskatchewan. I gave a copy of this picture to Jeff.
