What’s next?Searching for... Homeland has strengthened bonds with both youth
in Oakville and with our partner organizations. As a result, Oakville
Galleries will continue to offer engaging programmes for teens and build
on this spirit of collaboration. In 2006, in conjunction with our winter exhibition titled Addressing
Oakville, teens will be invited to participate in the new public
programme Oakville Addresses… and become art critics. Writing
about art involves the ability to look at and interpret formal language
as well as articulating concepts in written form. Starting in February
2006, Oakville Addresses… will be comprised of a series of workshops
for young writers, designed to teach writing techniques and have critical
articles about art published in The Oakville Beaver and Teen
Issues magazine. For details on the programme and to register please
visit www.oakvillegalleries.com. In addition, the Oakville Public Library and Oakville Galleries have
partnered to offer a March Break programme for teens in 2006. Do it
here: DIY media for teens will provide teens with a series of tips
on how to be creative with easily available media, materials and techniques.
As part of the weekly programme, teens will participate in several writing
and hands-on workshops in and around Oakville, and will visit artist studios
in Toronto (a silkscreen workshop, knitting co-op, sound recording studio,
etc). For more detailed information and registration, please visit www.oakvillegalleries.com. |
