With spring in the air and flowers in full bloom, collecting natural materials on our walks outside will become even more exciting after learning how to create beautiful artworks with them! This activity will show how to capture the shape and texture of blooms and leaves on paper through rubbings, and add colour with our paints. Not to worry if you don’t have watercolours on hand, some water and food colouring work perfectly as well. Let’s celebrate spring together through art making!
This activity is wonderful for all ages as it is a great way to introduce the concepts of texture and line. The hunt for natural material before hand is also a wonderful way to introduce these new terms.

Optical Illusion Drawings
- 22 May 2020, 3:00pm
Join us as we create our own own optical illusion artwork! This activity will explore how lines and colour can work together to bring your artwork to life and look as if it is 3D and coming off the page! Once you learn this technique you can transform any artwork into a tricky image.
This style of drawing shows how contrasting straight lines and curved lines can affect the perspective of the object in a drawing. By alternating colours within the lines as well, it adds to the illusion and creates patterns to further deceive the eye and create a perception that in reality, does not match the true image.
