PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Get smart about art with hands-on workshops at your local art museum! Lessons put a kid-friendly twist on our current exhibitions, offering an inspiring starting point to build an impressive portfolio of artworks. Participants will develop their creative and technical abilities while working with a range of artistic mediums. Plenty of one-on-one guidance allows program activities to be adapted to each child's skills and interests.

Drawing: Crossing the Line (Ages 6 to 10)

  • Saturdays, 19 October – 7 December 2019

For beginners and novices alike, this program explores a range of drawing techniques and mediums. Starting with traditional hands-on exercises, participants will subsequently delve into new approaches to drawing inspired by contemporary artworks and the environment of Oakville Galleries.

Take your painting skills to the next level as we push the limits of artmaking with watercolours, acrylics and oil paints. Participants will experiment with colour and explore a range of different painting styles to develop artworks that are targeted to their individual interests and abilities.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Time

Ages 6 to 10: Saturdays, 10:00 am–12:00 pm (8 weeks)
Ages 10 to 14: Saturdays, 1:00 pm–3:00 pm (8 weeks)

Location

All classes are held in the Education Centre at Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens, 1306 Lakeshore Road East, located 2 km east of downtown Oakville.

What to bring

Campers are welcome to bring snacks and drinks for each class (no nuts, please). Refillable water bottles are highly recommended. Indoor and outdoor clothing and footwear that can endure both messy fun and outdoor play are encouraged. Please bring a change of clean shoes to wear indoors in bad weather. Smocks are not provided. All art materials are supplied by Oakville Galleries

Cancellation policy

Cancellations with a refund must be applied for at least 7 days before your child's program begins. Refunds are subject to a $25 administrative fee. There are no refunds for cancellations requested less than 7 days before the program begins.

Missed Classes

In the event that a participant is unable to attend a scheduled class during the program, make-up dates, refunds or credits will not be provided.
