- 25 September 2017
Hatch an escape plan with a range of imaginative art activities inspired by the work of exhibiting artist Tamara Henderson. Participants will paint with watercolour, sculpt with clay and sew their way to an alternate reality, whether a favourite dream, a far off galaxy or a fairytale kingdom.
Pop-Up Maker Market
- 6 October 2017
Make a button, a poster, a zine, a magnet—anything small, simple and fun! Our studio will be transformed into a supply smorgasbord, with all sorts of materials for participants to make into their own artworks and inventions. In the afternoon, we'll set up shop and trade our wares!
A Lexicon of Magic
- 24 November 2017
Your artistic vocabulary is about to get a lot more magical! After checking out an exhibition by the artist duo FASTWÜRMS, kids will head back to the art room to draw out an inventory of items needed to make magic. A cat, some bats, a few tools or a video camera and mushrooms, perhaps? Whatever charms you the most will be made into clay sculptures tinted with colourful potions.
Plot Twist Paintings
- 2 February 2018
Spend your day plotting out a large painting using canvas and acrylic paint. But there's a catch! Inspired by the paintings on view by Allison Katz, participants will learn how to put a contemporary twist on their artworks, such as combining seemingly mismatched images or basing their painting on a passage from a book.
- 16 February 2018
Do you like to daydream? Bring your imaginary world to life with this claymation workshop! Participants will make characters out of modelling clay, then pose and photograph them one small movement at a time. With the help of their instructor, they will edit their photos into a short animation using iMovie, and finish their films with sound effects and credits.
Get Your Glue On
- 27 April 2018
Discover the many different uses for this art room staple: glue! Often invisible, participants will learn clever ways of making glue the most exciting part of an art project. From glue drawings and making slime to hot-glue sculptures and puffy paintings, participants will be impressed by all the things you can do with this sticky substance.Register now
