Life Drawing: A Portrait Workshop
Sundays, 10 – 31 March 2019
In this four-week course, artist and educator Anna Edwards will provide a series of life-drawing lessons rooted in the classical approach, using dry media such as pencils and charcoal to create portraits from a live model. Focusing on what creates a likeness in a portrait and how to achieve it, participants will learn about the proportions of a human face; explore how to create illusions of volume and depth; experiment with creating focal points using contrast and edges; and learn techniques for tackling challenging elements such as the nose and eyes. Each of these lessons will contribute to an increased understanding of how to capture and convey character, mood and likeness through drawing.
This course is suitable for all levels of experience. All materials will be provided.
