Videorovers: Discovering Video Art
Grades 9 to 12

In your classroom

Is seeing really believing? This hands-on video-making workshop will teach students to question the messages conveyed by moving images seen in advertisements, movies, television, and online, by introducing them to video’s use as an artistic medium. Following a screening of key Canadian and international video works, students will work in groups to create short videos of their own. This workshop provides students with a solid understanding of the principles and strategies of postmodernism, while developing their own works of art that raise as many questions as they do answers.
