Bring your party to Oakville Galleries! Rent our lakeside studio and one of our instructors will lead your group in a festive art activity. Please contact us to discuss the details of your celebration. Offered in English and French.
Cost: $241 for up to 10 children ($282.50 for non-members); $20/additional child
Choose from one of the following activities:
Bright Lights: Create luminous, colourful paper lanterns that cast cool shadows. We'll light them all just in time for birthday cake!
Creature Comforts: Imagine the habitats and creatures that live in Gairloch Gardens - then build them out of clay! Play with texture and shape, using found materials like pinecones, bark and twigs to imprint natural patterns onto the clay.
Art Stars: Make flashy sunglasses and flamboyant hats using glitter, sequins, feathers and ribbons to transform yourself instantly into an Art Star. Paparazzi not included!
Green Thumbs: Turn recycled and natural materials into culture creatures! Help us save fabric, hardware and plastic from the landfill as you give it new life in the form of arty animal friends.
Books From The Next Dimension: Stitch together unusual pages out of transparent, textured and recycled materials, then add hidden pockets, pull-out pictures, peek-through windows and pop-ups to tell your own stories.
Ghost-mobiles: String isn't scary.... but this mobile is! Turn string and bamboo into a hanging ghost-mobile with this workshop that's inspired by all things haunted.
Wind Power (seasonal): The wind off of Lake Ontario will spin, dance and dip the kites and pinwheels we'll make in this workshop. Test out your creations in the gardens before you go!
Designer T-shirts (ages 9+ or parental assistance): The ultimate in wearable art! Using stencil and screen-printing techniques, create a basic design in teams of two, then print it onto a t-shirt. Participants must provide their own clothing to print on.
Hot Off The Press (ages 9+ or parental assistance): Learn the basics of block printing and ink mixing, then design and print your own greeting cards. Trade with friends for a colourful collection!
Each party includes:
o A unique, hands-on 60 min. workshop taught by a practicing artist-educator in our spacious studio
o 1 hour for refreshments and partying!
o 1 hour for set-up and clean-up
Additional rental time is available at a rate of $30/hour.
