Oakville Galleries has developed a unique community photography project in collaboration with the Oakville Beaver. We are inviting community members to submit photos that explore what happens around their tables. Photos can be of mealtimes; game tables, such as bridge and poker tables; cultural, political or historical events or meetings that happen around tables, or any other images that explore the table in everyday life.
The project is open to everyone! And you don't have to own a camera either - we welcome photos from your family's collection. Selected images will be printed in the Oakville Beaver each week for the duration of the exhibition What We Bring to the Table. Deadline for submission of photos is June 1, 2008.
1. There are three submission categories: children (0-12), teens (12-19) and adults (20+). 2. Participants are asked to submit photos they have taken themselves or photos from their archives. 3. Photos should explore questions such as: What does mealtime mean to you and/or your family? What kinds of connections happen across tabletops? How do tables bring people together and/or keep them apart?
Please submit photos with a brief explanation to Oakville Galleries via email to photos@oakvillegalleries.com. Participants are also welcome to submit images in hard copy or on disc by mail or in person to:

This project has been inspired by Oakville Galleries' upcoming exhibit What We Bring to the Table (9 February to 6 June 2008).
